To celebrate the successful completion of its 100th detachable ropeway, Beijing Materials Handling Research Institute Co., Ltd. (BMH) held a ceremony in Luanchuan, Luoyang on November 18, 2022. The ceremony received full support and assistance from Mr. Zhang Jianxian, Chairman of Luanchuan Funiushan Northeast Tiger Tourism Development Co., Ltd. The event also welcomed representatives of BMH's detachable ropeway users, leaders from the China Ropeway Association, officials from the National Center of Passenger Aerial Ropeway Safety Supervision and Inspection, relevant partners, and key leaders from China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd.

The 100th detachable ropeway project undertaken by BMH, located at the Bamboo Sea Panda Valley in Luanchuan, Henan Province, successfully passed acceptance inspection by the National Center of Passenger Aerial Ropeway Safety Supervision and Inspection on November 17. This project is a mono-cable detachable grip 8-MGD ropeway, measuring 1,194 meters in horizontal length and 370 meters in vertical rise. It provides a one-way capacity of 1,500 passengers per hour (PPH), with a maximum run speed of 6 meters per second, and the shortest one-way journey time is only 5 minutes. The structure consists of 12 pylons and is equipped with 27 eight-seat gondolas. The ropeway features a three-headed support structure designed at the cliff face of the upper station. This design not only reduces the footprint but also minimizes the volume of mountain excavation and conserves support materials, showcasing BMH’s advanced design philosophy centered on sustainability and low carbon emissions.

At the ceremony, Luanchuan County Deputy Chief Sun Xinxin gave a welcome address. He congratulated BMH on the successful completion of its 100th detachable ropeway and emphasized that the flourishing tourism sector is vital for stimulating local economic growth. He also pledged to vigorously support industrial development in the future and expressed gratitude to all businesses for their contributions to the local economy.

Huang Yuefeng, General Manager of BMH, delivered a speech. He noted that BMH, in its pursuit of developing ropeway and funicular systems in China, has always remained true to its founding mission, taken on significant responsibilities, committed to innovation as its driving force, and continued to forge ahead with determination. After ten years of challenging research and development, along with a decade of innovation and upgrades, BMH has successfully constructed a large number of high-quality detachable ropeway projects across China, starting with its first domestically produced detachable ropeway. Today, BMH celebrates the completion of its 100th ropeway, marking a significant milestone in the development of domestically produced detachable ropeways and signaling the beginning of a new journey for the organization. Mr. Huang conveyed his sincere appreciation to the many customers, industry peers, and individuals from all walks of life who have consistently supported and assisted BMH’s ropeway endeavors. He indicated that, in alignment with the guiding principles laid out at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, BMH will remain committed to technological innovation and self-reliance, endeavoring to establish itself as a hotbed for ropeway technology and to expedite its international expansion towards achieving the strategic goal of becoming a world-leading provider of materials handling system solutions.

During his speech, Liu Shengcheng, Deputy General Manager of China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd., acknowledged the significant accomplishments of BMH in the ropeway and funicular sector over the past two decades. He expressed three main aspirations on BMH: First, to take the development of the industry as its core mission, pooling efforts to enhance its capacity for independent innovation, and to take the lead in advancing the technology and standards of the domestic ropeway and funicular industry, thereby maintaining an international edge in key technologies. Second, to reach out to the global market while establishing a solid domestic presence, solidifying its top industry status domestically, while also innovating its management modes and venturing into the “investment, construction, and operation” domains. Third, to keep in mind the utmost interests of the nation, actively practicing the mission as a centrally-administered state-owned enterprise (SOE) by fulfilling its political, economic, and social responsibilities, and concentrating on high-level scientific innovation to deliver high-quality, sustainable, people-centered, and eco-friendly projects, thus supporting the nation’s strategic development and local economic requirements and striving for a high-quality development narrative in the new era of socialism.

Following this, Liu Shengcheng and Zhang Jianxian completed the unveiling ceremony for the Bamboo Sea ropeway together.

The ceremony of celebration came to a successful close, marked by a lively and peaceful atmosphere. As it moves forward, BMH will embrace the social responsibilities of a centrally-administered SOE from a great nation and promote high-quality development through technological innovation. The organization seeks to harness its strengths to serve the nation’s needs, create a national brand, and, with the determination embodied in “turning a deep chasm into a thoroughfare,” will strive relentlessly for a rapid and stable evolution of the industry, aiding China in its quest to become a strong manufacturing nation.
